Raising Meat Chickens on Pasture Workshop
Date: May 4, 2024
Cost: $30/person, $55/2 people
Age: Adults, children 12yrs and older
Come join Farmer Brian for this "non-herbal" offering! We have been raising large batches of meat birds on our homestead two times a year for 6 years. Come join Brian as he discusses the ins and outs of raising your own birds for meat. This workshop will include information on equipment needs, space requirements, chicken tractor designs, fencing, predator concerns, costs, pros/cons, feed requirements, sourcing birds, and all the things we wish we would have known when starting our first batch! Participants will be given checklists and resources so you can feel confident in your meat chicken raising endeavors.
This class is limited to how to raise and manage a meat bird flock on your homestead or in your backyard. This is geared towards new homesteaders and meat chicken owners. This class will not include hands-on butchering skills, however, we will go over all of the equipment needed to successfully butcher your own birds, as well as referrals and resources for learning to butcher.
